Select good poetry suited to the child's age.

Choose poems, hymns, Shakespearean passages and psalms to memorize. Beginning at age 6 read the poem while they are doing something else, at odd times. They will be able to memorize and recite the poem from hearing it in the casual way. Do not make it weary for them.
