Composition

Do not wear yourself out teaching or drilling composition. They will be able to write if they hvae had good books. Do not hamper children with instruction. 6-9 yr olds do narration instead of composition and they learn through oral narration that writing is really talking with some rules.

When they are 9-12 yrs old they can write essays or orally tell about their history, scriptures, Shakespeare etc. this is how composition beomes a part of all other school subjects and is not a subject itself.

Years 7-9 have them write on subjects they are really interested in.
Year 10 they take notes on history, literature, art. Write letters to the editor of a newspaper.
Years 11-12 write essays on current events and poems.
